8 Ways To Re-Vamp Old Picture Frames Written by: Cora Foley
Many people have lots of old picture frames lying around their home, but they don’t need to put photographs in them anymore. You don’t want to waste these frames and you also don’t want them collecting dust. What do you do? Here is a great list of DIY crafts to turn your old picture frames into useful and beautiful household staples.

Chalk Board
Turn your old picture frame into a nifty chalkboard 2 different ways! You can either buy a chalkboard of the appropriate size to fit in or behind the old picture frame OR you can buy chalkboard paint and paint the glass that came with the frame!

Bulletin Board
Simply buy a piece of appropriately sized corkboard or cut your own piece of cork from a large board and attach it to the old frame! This is great for tacking up to do lists or to show off lots of pictures.

Mirror
Turn 1 or many old picture frames into mirrors! If you have a large frame you can make a beautiful standalone mirror or if you have lots of little frames you can make a lovely and practical collage on the wall. Often times the expensive part of a nice mirror is the fancy frame. If you can’t find a mirror the perfect size for your frame, you can go to a glass shop and they will cut you a perfectly sized piece of mirror.

Earring Holder
Simply add multiple strands of wire to the back of the empty frame or attached a wire net to the back you easily have an awesome earring rack! If you want to turn it into a full jewelry holder you can glue small decorative hooks around the frame as well to hold necklaces and bracelets.

Towel Rack
One of the more surprising things you can do with a picture frame is turn it into a towel rack. You can this various ways, but one of the simpler ways is to attached a backing to the frame like decorative wood panels or even glass and then attach various hooks depending on the size of your frame. Larger frames are preferable for this project.

Serving Tray
A serving tray is an awesome and simple way to re-vamp an old frame. You can put a picture of decorative paper in the frame, behind the glass. Glue, handles to two of the top sides of the frame and there you go! You can use this to serve food and drinks or even to put on a coffee table to hold various items like TV remotes and magazines.

Key Holder
Simply remove all parts of the picture frame leaving you with just the outside piece. Attach hooks to one side of the frame and bam! you have a beautiful key holder!

Note Board
Lastly, you can make a fun and simple note board. You can put To Do lists on it, leave notes for family members coming in and out of the house, special reminders or even turn a single photo frame into a multi photo frame. Take the basic frame and glue wire across the open space however you fancy and once it’s dry leave some fun clips throughout the board so you have something to hang your notes up with!
